Pattern Euros

On this page I will show the coins named Euro patterns that were issued since the year 2002.
The first coins issued were from the EU countries that don't agreed the Euro on January 2002. Late these issues were made for quick business with the coins collectors. Some coins are minted in high quality: the coins minted by the british International Numismatic Agency (INA) and the swiss Europ Mint are very good, there are other coins that have a poor design and quality.

The reverses of the coins are the same that were used in the test coins from Gibraltar.

Albania

The euro tests from Albania were issued on November 2004. 10.000 folder with eight coins. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 22,8 milimeters and the 2 Euros measure 25,7 milimeters.

Alderney

These coins were issued at the end of october 2004. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 23,0 milimeters and the 2 Euros measure 25,3 milimeters.

The coins issued are in three types of sets:
* BU with 8 coins. 10.000 sets.
* Proof with 9 coins. 5.000 sets.

Andorra

The coins issued by INA are in three types of sets:
* BU with 8 coins. 16.000 sets.
* Proof with 9 coins. 14.000 sets.
* Proof with 9 coins made with silver. 1.250 sets.

Pattern Euros 2003

The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 22,8 milimeters and the 2 Euros measure 25,7 milimeters.

1 Euro Broken die 2003

This image is from the coin of my set, you can see a line in the upper side of the number one, this line was made when the die was broken. I have seen more of this broken die coins.

Speciment type

The coin of 1 Euro have a diameter of 32,0 milímeters and a weight of 20,8 grams, the 2 Euros coin measure  35,0 milímeters and weight of 24,5 grams.

2 Pattern Euros 2004

I have found this coin of 2 ¿Euros? dated 2004. The coin shows the romanic church of Santa Coloma. This coin measure 35 millimeters of diameter and have a weight of 27 grams. Were issued a total of 23.000 coins.

Look closely these images are the same coin but the inner golden part is bigger than the first coin.

Europs 2006

These coins were minted in 2006, there are eight coins in a plastic blister.

Armenia

These coins were issued on october 2004. The set contains eight coins, there were issued 7.000 sets.

Aruba

Coins issued by INA.

Austria

1 Euro 1997

Mintage 50.000 sets including 8 Euro legal tender coins from Austria, several dates, 2002 from 2006.

2 Euros 2001

I have seen this coind dated 2007 in November 2007. Mintage: 20.000 coins.

2 Euros 2007 Treaty of Rome

Mintage: 20.000 coins.

Azores

Coins issued by INA on June 2005. The reverses are the same that were used in the Madeira coins.
* BU with 8 coins. 10.000 sets.
* Proof with 9 coins.1.000 sets.
* Proof with 9 coins made with silver. 50 sets.

Balearic Islands

In november 2004 were issued the euro test coins from these mediterranean islands. These islands are part of Spain and have the legal Euros in circulation. I don't know who is this man. There were issued 7.000 folders with eight coins. The reverse of the coins are the same of the coins issued for Mongolia, Macedonia and Karthago.

Belarus

These coins were issued on november 2004. The set contains eight coins, there were issued 7.000 sets. I don't know who is this man. The reverse of the coins are the same of the coins issued for Cecenia.

Belgium

1 Euro Specimen 1997

This coin dated 1997 was issued in a set with legal tender Euros from Belgium. Mintage 50.000 sets.

2 Euros 2001

I have seen this coind dated 2007 in November 2007. Mintage: 20.000 coins.

2 Euros 2007 Treaty of Rome

Mintage: 20.000 coins.

Benelux

Folders with 8 coins 5.000 sets.
Box with 9 coins 1.000 sets.

Bretagne

On May 2005 were minted 5.000 folders with 8 coins. The reverses are the same that were used in the Normandy set.

Bulgaria

Euro Specimen 2003

Set with eight coins. Mintage 30.000 sets.

Europ 2004

I don't know who issued this coins named Europ, these coins don't were minted by the swiss company Europ Mint. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 22,8 milimeters and the 2 Euros measure 25,7 milimeters. The set contain eight coins. The folder was issued on August 2004.

Pattern Euros INA 2004

The INA test Euros for Bulgaria were issued on October 2004.

* 5 Euro nordic gold. 10.000 coins.

2 Euros de prueba 2006

Moneda de 2 Euros de prueba fechados en el año 2006. Tiene un diámetro de 25,35 milímetros y pesa 12 gramos. La emisión fue de 20.000 monedas.

Canary Islands

In november 2004 were issued the euro test coins from these group of   islands. These islands are part of Spain, are sited in the west coast of Africa and have the legal Euros in circulation. There were issued 7.000 folders with eight coins. The man that is showed is the worst president that have ruled the spanish goverment.

Cape Verde

I don't understand the reason of this issue, is imposible that this country join the EU, Cape Verde became independet from Portugal on July 5, 1975. The set was issued on october 2004. The folder have a mistake, says: "patetrns".

Cecenia

In January 2005 were issued these coin. The reverse of the coins are the same of the coins issued for Belarus.
* BU folder with 8 coins. 7.000 sets.

Corsica

This mediterranean island is part of France, is really rare that this part of one Euro country have issued these patterns.

The folder contains 8 coins. The bimetallic coins have the head of one of the most popular man that was born on this island: Napoleon Bonaparte. The 1 Euro coin show the name: Napoleon; the other coin show Napoleone, with one E and the end.

2 Euro 2008

Another coin with Napoleon Bonaparte.

Creta

Once again another mediterranean island that issued pattern euros, Creta is part of Greece. The folder contains 8 coins.

Croatia

Specimen 2003

Design of  Manfred Born. Mintage: 30.000 sets with eight coins.

1 Euro 2003 silver

Coin dated 2003, made with silver 999. Mintage: 9.999 coins.

Europs 2004

The euro tests from Croatia were issued on November 2004. 10.000 folder with eight coins. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 22,8 milimeters and the 2 Euros measure 25,7 milimeters.

2 Euro 2006

Mintage 20.000 coins dated 2006. Diameter 25,35 milimeters, weigh 12 grams.

Europs 2006

I cna`t obtain a better image from this set of Europs dated 2006.

Cyprus

Cyprus was joined the EU on May of 2004 with other Europeans countries. Began to use the Euro in 2008.

1 Pattern Euro Specimen 2003

This set are formed by eight coins. This coin measure 32 millimeters of diameter and have a weight of 20,7 grams.
In 2008 this coin was issued with a set of eight legal tender Euro coins from Cyprus, mintage was 50.000 sets.

I have seen on Ebay this coin made with silver (Ag 999) and plated with gold (24 Kt). Have a diameter of 40 millimeters and a weight of 25 grams. The mintage was 9.999 coins.

This coin was issued with a set of six legal tender coins from Cyprus, mintage was 50.000 sets.

2 Pattern Euro Specimen 2003

This coin measure 34 millimeters of diameter and have a weight of 24,5 grams.

1 Pattern Euro 2004 INA

This coin measure 22,8 millimeters of diameter and have a weight of 8,1 grams.

2 Pattern Euro 2004 INA

This coin measure 25,7 millimeters of diameter and have a weight of 10,4 grams.

I have seen for the first time the 1 Euro coin at the end of 2007.

Mintage 20.000 coins dated 2006. Diameter 25,35 milimeters, weigh 12 grams.

Xeros 2006

2 Euro 2008

Mintage 1.000 coins. Dated 2008 but was issued in September 2008.

2 Euros 2008 Kyrennia

The ship showed in this 2 Euro test coin is an ancient greek ship named Kyrennia.

Czech Republic

I have seen this coin on Ebay, is dated 2003. The coin is made of silver (Ag 999) and the ring are plated with gold (24 Kt). The coin measure 40 millimeters of diameter, weight 25 grams. The issue limit was 9.999 units.

2 Euros 2005 Kafka

The design of the reverse of this coin is the same that were used inthe 2 Euros coins from Greenland. Diameter 26,75 mm. weight 9,36 gramms.

2 Euro 2006

Mintage 20.000 coins dated 2006. Diameter 25,35 milimeters, weight 12 grams.

Danzica

These euros were issued in february 2005. Maybe Danzica is Gdansk in Poland.

Denmark

Pattern Euros 2002 INA

These designs were made by the INA.

The coins were issued in three types of sets:
* BU with 8 coins. 23.000 sets.
*Proof with 9 coins. 20.000 sets.
*Proof with 9 coins made with silver. 4.500 sets.

The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 22,8 milimeters and the 2 Euros measure 25,7 milimeters. There are some set with one mistake: the reverse of the coin of one Euro not is the normal design for this set, the mistake coins have the reverse of the pattern Euro coins of the United Kingdom.

Silver coins

I don´t have data about this coins. 23,3 and 26,8 milimeters of diameter.

Dutch Indias

Coming soon. These Euros were minted by the same company that issued the Martinique, Saint Martin, Suriname and Guadaloupe Euros: European Pattern Collection. The reverses are the same of the coin issued for Suriname.

The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 24,0 milimeters and the 2 Euros measure 26,0 milimeters. These coins shows the head of Bellinghausen.

1 and 2 pattern Euros 2004 INA

This coins were minted by the british International Numismatic Agency on August 2004. There were minted 12.500 folder with 8 coins. The obverses of the coins shows a design that were used in some estonian coins in the last century. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 22,8 millimeters and the 2 Euros measure 25,7 millimeters.

The coins were issued in three types of sets:
* BU with 8 coins. 12.500 sets.
* Proof with 9 coins. 3.000 sets.
* Proof with 9 coins made with silver. 175 sets.

2 Euros 2006

Mintage: 20.000 coins of 2 Euro. Later there were appear sets with eight coin and one silver medal, mintage: 10.000 sets.

Greenland

Coins minted by the Europ Mint. Greenland is part of the Denmark Kingdom. The proof set have a 5 Europ trimetallic coin, have the same blank used in the swiss coin that conmemorate the visit of the Pope.

* Proof with 9 coins. 5.000 sets.

A have found this coin, I only know the 2 E version. Diameter 26,75 mm, weight 5,8 grams

Later I have found a folder with the same coin, really are the same designs but there are some difference between the coins:
* The reverse have two mintmarks.
* This new one have a weight of 9,36 grams, more than the first coin.

Guadaloupe

These Euros were minted by the same company that issued the Martinique Euros: European Pattern Collection. The reverses are the same of the coin issued for Martinique and Sain Martin.

Euros 2005 INA

Coins minted by INA, the coins have the same reverses of the coins minted for Vatican City by INA.
* BU with 8 coins. 12.500 sets.

Pattern Euros 2003, Specimen type

The coin of 1 Euro have a diameter of 32,8 milímeters and a weight of 20,8 grams, the 2 Euros coin measure  35,5 milímeters and weight of 24,5 grams. The sets were composed of eight coins.

 There were issued 30.000 sets composed of eight coins.

1 Euro 2003, Specimen silver 999

This coin dated 2003 were minted with silver 999.

1 Euro 2004, Specimen type plus legal tender

There were issued 50.000 sets composed of eight coins: 1 euro specimen coin and seven legal tender coins (1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and bimetallic 100 Forint). The one Euro coin have the same design that the coin dated 2003.

Pattern Euros 2004

This set are composed of eight coins. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 24,0 millimeters and the 2 Euros measure 26,0 millimeters. The coins shows the head of Lajos Kossuth.

Patterns Euros INA

Sets issued by INA on November 2004. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 22,8 millimeters and the 2 Euros measure 25,7 millimeters. The coins shows the heads of king Stephen and king Matyas Hunyadi (1458-1490) and queen Beatrix
The coins will be issued in three types of sets:

Coin dated 2005. Diameter: 26,75 mm, weight: 5,8 gr., edge: milled.

These coin were minted by the swiss company Europ Mint. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 23,5 millimeters and the 2 Euros measure 26,5 millimeters.

Mintage 2.500 coins issued in April 2008.

Lapland

In January 2005 were issued these coin. The reverse of the coins are the same of the coins issued for Ukraine.

Latvia

This coin was minted with silver 999. This coin measure 40 millimeters of diameter and have a weight of 25 grams.

1 Euro 2004 Specimen

This one Euro coin is from a set with eight legal tender coins from Latvia. Mintage was 50.000 sets.

1 and 2 Pattern Euro 2004

This set are composed of eight coins, mintage 7.500 folders. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 24,0 millimeters and the 2 Euros measure 26,0 millimeters. The reverse of the coins are the same of the coins issued for Kosovo.

1 and 2 pattern Euros 2004 INA

This coins were minted by the british International Numismatic Agency on August 2004. There were minted 12.500 folder with 8 coins. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 22,8 millimeters and the 2 Euros measure 25,7 millimeters. The coins bear an obverse design which features the arms of Riga, the capital city.

The coins were issued in three types of sets:
* BU with 8 coins. 12.500 sets.
* Proof with 9 coins. 3.000 sets.
* Proof with 9 coins made with silver. 175 sets.

2 Euros 2006

Mintage 20.000 coins dated 2006. Diameter 25,35 milimeters, weight 12 grams. The castle is from the coat of arms of Riga.

Liechtenstein

These coins were made by Europ Mint. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 23,5 millimeters and the 2 Euros measure 26,5 millimeters. Later (March 2008) i have found coins with the same design but with the words Xeros, not Europ.

The coins were issued in three types of sets:
* BU with 8 coins. 10.000 sets.

This set are formed by eight coins. This coin measure 32 millimeters of diameter and have a weight of 20,7 grams. The man showed is Jean Parisot, one of the first Gran Maestre of the Malta Order. Set with eight coins, mintage 30.000 sets.
In 2008 this coin was issued in a set that contains the legal tender Euro coins from Malta 2008. The mintage was 50.000 sets.

These coins were issued in november 2004. Conmemorating Formula One Grand Prix, 75th anniversary. The reverses are the same that were used in 2005 for the San Marino Euro test set.

I have seen this set on Ebay, at the beginning of november 2004. I don't bought it because the price is to high for these type of coins: 50€. The reverses of the coins are not the same of the INA coins. The images are from Jaume Boada.
Later I have found a set with nine coins with the same designs but these new ones were dated 2004. Were issued 15.000 folders,1 cent to 5 Euro dated 2004 and only 2.000 dated 2003.

I have seen on Ebay this coin included in a set with 9 legal tender polish coin. Mintage 50.000 sets.

These coins were made by INA and shows one of the most famous polish in the world: The Pope. Some folder contains one mistake: the one Euro coin don't shows the head of the Pope, shows the head of Nicolas Copernico (this design are from the coins of 10, 20 and 50 cents)..

I don't know who issued this coins named Europ, these coins don't were minted by the swiss company Europ Mint. The 2 Europ coin shows the head of Vlad Tepes, this man is the source that use Bram Stoker for write his book named Dracula.

The set was issued on october 2004. The folder have a mistake, says: "patetrns". The one Euro coin are rotated 90º, the other coins have medal alingment. The reverse of the coins are the same of the coins issued for Siberia.

There are 1.000  folder with a diferent obverse designs.

Saint Helena

This island was used like a jail for Napoleon Bonaparte. The reverse of the coins are the same that the issued for Alderney, Guernsey, Man Island, Jersey and Gibraltar. The 1 Euro coin have a diameter of 23,0 millimeters and the 2 Euros measure 25,3 millimeters.
